For the past couple of years I’ve been working on and off in Istanbul with mural artist Richard Bagguley. Istanbul is fantastic city and a place I’ve been wanting to visit for a long time.
November and December has seen me here again, working on a trompe l’oeil ceiling design. The design has been very challenging to work out – it’s a tessellating pattern that covers a 3 dimensional dome. It was thankfully all worked out before I arrived by interior designer Selami Yılmaz and Richard.
The dome is quite high up at around 30 feet or so. It’s sometimes handy I’m an experienced rock climber and quite happy working at height. The scaffolding is a bit different from home too.
The upper sections are almost finished here.
